Kathua: A National Level Online Quiz
Competition was organized by the Department of Chemistry, Govt. Degree College
Kathua on the topic “Organic and Inorganic Chemistry” based on syllabus of
Semester 6th of University of Jammu.
A total 893
participants from different Colleges and Universities from across India
participated and enriched their experience in Multiple Choice Questions on the
topics UV, IR and 1H-NMR Spectroscopy, Active Methylene Compounds, Catalysis,
Chemical Explosives, Batteries, Fertilizers, s and p Block.
A total of
80 MCQs were asked in the Quiz covering all these topics.
Prof. Rakesh
Singh, Organizing Secretary said that participants from 27 States and Union territories, namely
J&K, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh,
Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujrat, Haryana, Himachal, Jharkhand, Kerala,
Karnataka, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab,
Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal took
part in the Online Quiz Competition.
The quiz
being online, the participation was also observed from other countries such as
Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nigeria and Pakistan.
He said that
UG, PG Students and Research scholars of reputed Colleges and Universities and Institutions of India like Delhi University (DU), IIT Kharagpur, IIIT
BHU, IIT Bombay, IIIT Delhi, IIIT Gandhinagar, IIT Kanpur, IISCR Pune, NIT
Calicut , AMU Lucknow ,CSIR-NPL, New Delhi; University of Mumbai, GNDU
Amritsar, Dr. C.V.Raman University Kota,
Punjab University, Patliputra University Patna, University of Jammu, University
of Kashmir, Cluster University Jammu, University of Rajasthan, Madras
University, Central University Lucknow, Central University Tamil Nadu, Central
University Punjab, Lovely Professional University, Punjab, Calcutta University,
Pune University, Nagaland University, Kerala University, Lucknow University,
Anna University, Annamalai University, HNBU Grewal, etc. participated in the Online Quiz
Competition. Participants securing 70
percent and above were awarded e-Certificates.
Among UG
category Roshani Bandral of Govt. Degree College, Kathua (J&K UT) secured
90.00 % and topped the competition. Priyanka Choudhary of Cluster University of
Jammu secured 88.75 percent and stood 2nd, while Shanu Sharma Cluster
University of Jammu secured 87.75 percent and stood 3rd. Anukriti Singhal of
Delhi University, Shubham Sharma of GDC, Kathua (J&K UT) and Bopinder Singh
of Cluster University of Jammu won consolation prizes.
In PG and
Research Category Pritam Avinash Shete of NSC Science College, Nashik (Pune
University) and Chhavi Khajuria of GNDU Amritsar secured 88.75 percent and
stood first, Madan Kumar of Lovely Professional University, Punjab secured
87.75 percent and stood 2nd, Monisha K. of Bishop Heber College, Trichy (Tamil
Nadu) and Sakshi Sood of MCM DAV College Chandigarh secured 86.25 percent and stood
3rd. Ganesh Jabotra of IIT Gandhinagar, and Kiran Verma, Suchita Dhammi and
Harleen Kaur of DAV College for Women
Chandigarh won consolation certificate.
Principal of
the College, Prof. Asha Ram Sharma appreciated the contribution of Department
of Chemistry for preparing the students as per latest pattern of MCQ
examination during this tough time of Covid-19 pandemic, when regular class
work was not possible.
