Mohali(Agencies): A
two-member team of the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) interrogated alleged
bookie Ravinder Singh Dandiwal here today.
The ACU team, led by Alok
Kumar, along with senior officers of the Punjab Police visited the Sadar Police
Station, Kharar, this afternoon and interrogated Dandiwal and two others
accused for hosting fake Sri Lankan T20 league matches in village Sawara.
Punjab Police SP Ravjot Kaur
Grewal said that the ACU team interrogated Dandiwal for organising various
tournaments in Sri Lanka, Australia and Dubai. Dandiwal confirmed that he had
also formed a club in 2009 — Cricket Council of India — under which various
matches were organised in Mohali, Amritsar and Bhopal.
ACU chief Ajit Singh told PTI
that Dandiwal’s arrest has had ripples in the world of corruptors. “It has sent
a strong message,” Singh said.
Players’ statements recorded
Police today recorded statements
of the players involved in the fake league. Grewal said that police would not
take any action against the players.
