Srinagar: In
continuation to its drive against sale, stocking and use of banned Polythene
and Single Use Plastic (SUP), throughout the valley Pollution Control Board
Kashmir today recovered a fine of Rs. 8300 from different shopkeepers, vendors
and stockists.
Pollution Control Board,
Srinagar during a raid in Sarai Baala Maharajbazar area of Srinagar seized 85
kgs of banned SUP and Polythene, the offenders were compound challaned on spot
and a penalty of Rs. 1000 was imposed and collected from the violator.
The raid was conducted by a
joint team of PCB, Srinagar headed by Divisional Officer and Forest Protection
Force personals led by Dy. Inspector.
In another such raid
Divisional Officer Anantnag seized 40 kgs of banned Polythene from offenders and
compound challaned them on spot and a penalty of Rs. 4900 was imposed and
collected from the violators.
To make J&K Union
Territory free of Polythene and SUP, the J&K Pollution Control Board under
the Chairmanship of Suresh Chugh has started a campaign against such traders,
shopkeepers who illegally deal with such items.
The J&K Pollution Control
Board authorities have made frequent appeals to all the traders, shopkeepers
and the public to avoid use of banned polythene and Single use plastic items
made of non–biodegradable materials.
