Affirms
govt’s priority towards timely disposal of public grievances

Sopore: As part of
public outreach programme initiated by the Jammu and Kashmir administration,
Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today visited Sopore and met
various delegations and individuals who apprised him of their grievances and
demands pertaining to development of their respective areas.
District Development
Commissioner, Baramullah, Dr G N Itoo, Managing Director, KPDCL, Director RDD
Kashmir, SSP, ADC, district officers among other concerned functionaries were
present on the occasion.
A delegation of Sopore Fruit
Growers Association demanded up gradation of basic infrastructure in fruit
Mandi Sopore, expansion of fruit Mandi, and continuation of Market Intervention
Scheme (MIS) besides waiving off of KCC loans in the wake of prevailing
circumstances.
Another delegation of
Traders/Transporters Association demanded special economic package for
compensating the loss occurred due to lockdown, for which, the Advisor said
that a special package shall soon be announced for the traders/transporters
community.
Meanwhile, a delegation of
civil society Sopore presented various demands regarding overall development of
the town like shifting of general bus stand to model town Sopore, additional
funds for construction of Mini Secretariat, expansion of municipal limits etc.
A delegation of Auqaf
Committee Warpora Sopore demanded up gradation and macadamization of inner road
links, up gradation of drinking water facility in the area.
Also, other delegations
including Traders Federation Sopore, Coordination Committee Sopore, Delegation
of Economic Alliance and delegations from Rohama, Zaingeer, Khoie, Dangiwacha
and other adjoining areas raised their issues and concerns seeking an early
redressal of the same.
Advisor said that the
Government has initiated numerous reforms to cater to the developmental needs
of the people with special focus on public participation in the developmental
process. He said that timely disposal of public grievances has been the priority
of present dispensation for which the administration has started this outreach
programme.
Baseer Khan asked the locals
to avail maximum benefit of various welfare schemes and sought their active
participation in developmental programmes launched by the government.
He directed the concerned
officers to set timelines for completion of incomplete and languishing projects
besides prioritizing the local issues like macadamization of roads,
augmentation of power infrastructure and provision of drinking water supply.
He also advised the people to
take all necessary precautions with regard to containment of COVID-19 pandemic
by following all SOPs issued by the government from time to time, besides using
face masks and maintaining social distancing.
