Day 4 witnesses cleanliness awareness through wall Paintings

Jammu: As a part of weeklong behavioral change sanitation campaign “Gandagi Mukht Bharat” All India Wall painting day for spreading SBM messages in villages was today observed across UT of J&K.

On the fourth day of “Gandagi Mukht Bharat” campaign, the main focus was on drawing Wall paintings on public buildings. All District and the Blocks were seen actively participating in different types of activities which includes Wall painting on  Community Sanitary Complexes, Panchayat Ghars, Community Halls, Boundary Walls, buildings of Health institutions and School buildings.

The wall paintings convey the messages related to Swachhta, use of toilet, reducing the use of single use plastic and conservation of forest. Some of the attractive messages were “Be Clean and keep India Clean” “Hum sab ne ye thana, Bharat ko Swachh Banana” and “Jiski basti saaf rahe, uski hasti aap rahe”. Moreover the paintings include messages related to present Covid-19 pandemic such as maintaining of social distancing and wearing of masks.

The BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanchs, Panchs and other local people actively participated in large numbers in the campaign in all parts of the UT. During this drive, the participants were made aware about social distancing norms and use of masks while carrying out social activities. In some Blocks masks were also distributed among the participants.

At the Block level, the activities are being carried out by Block Development Officers led by the District Panchayat Officers under the supervision of concerned Deputy Commissioners.

The whole campaign at UT level is   being closely monitored by Director, Rural Sanitation, J&K. The Secretary RDD & PR, J&K is reviewing this ongoing campaign on daily basis.
