Lucknow: All India Muslim Personal Law Board member Kamaal Farooqui lashed out at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, saying Muslims of UP were disillusioned with his party and leadership.
He said if Akhilesh Yadav
remained silent on the plight of Muslims in Uttar Pradesh then questions were
bound to be raised over his leadership.
Farooqui said Muslims were
being used as “political napkins” by the secular parties and Muslims would have
to seriously ponder over whether they were under any obligation to perpetually
support the SP without getting anything in return.
The AIMPLB member said the
leaders of the community were seriously thinking over their political options
in future elections. He said Muslim had made the biggest contribution in over
100 seats in UP assembly won by the Samajwadi Party. Criticising the silence of Akhilesh Yadav over the targeting
of Muslim leaders by the Yogi Adityanath government, Farooqui said, “It’s a
classic case of political opportunism. During the elections, the Samajwadi
Party makes tall promises and forgets them as soon as the elections areover.”
He said Rashtriya Lok Dal
chief Jayant Chaudhary had at least spoken against the tyranny of the
government; but Akhilesh Yadav was conspicuous by his silence.
