KATHUA: In its continued efforts to eradicate the menace of Bovine
Smuggling from the society, Kathua Police
under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua R C
Kotwal JKPS, today rescued 21 bovines within the district, 01 person arrested
and seized 03 vehicles involved.
In first instance, on
01.04.2022 a police team led by PSI
Swaran Singh Manhas IC PP Marheen under
the supervision of SDPO Border Pankaj Soodan- JKPS while on naka checking
duty in its jurisdictional area intercepted one vehicle (Mahindra Load Carrier)
bearing Registration No. JK14D-9058
which was being driven by an
unknown person who was enrouted from
Punjab towards Chadwal via Andhe Chak
was signalled to stop for checking. On seeing police party driver of the
vehicle parked the vehcile far behind naka point and managed to fled away from
the spot.During checking of the vehicle,
05 bovines were found loaded in the said
vehicle mercilessily.Thereafter all the 05 bovines(05 Cows) were rescued and seized 01 vehicle involved. On this an
instant case has been registered at P/S Rajbagh vide FIR No. 68/2022 U/S 188/IPC,
11 PCA Act and further investigation is going on.Moreover at the same time,
another police team of PP Marheen during
naka checking duty noticed one more
suspicious vehicle( Auto Load Carrier) bearing Registration Number JK02CQ-8806
which was being driven by a person namely Sushil Kumar S/o Thuru Ram R/o Rarra Tehsil Vijaypur District
Samba who was enrouted from Punjab towards Kashmir via link road Chak Bathal who was signalled to stop for
checking.On thorough checking 04 more bovines were found to be loaded on it
illegally.Meanwhile all the 04 bovines(
02 cows & 02 calf) were rescued, 01 person arrested and seized 01 vehicle
involved.In police action another case vide FIR No. 69/2022 U/S 188/IPC,11PCA act has been registered at
PS Rajbagh and further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
While in another instance
police team of PS Lakhanpur headed by Insp. Vijay Kotwal SHO PS Lakhanpur under
the supervision of DySP DAR kathua Sukhdev Singh during naka checking duty at
Lakhanpur noticed the movement of one suspicious vehicle (Container) bearing
Reg. No. HR61A- 4815 which was being driven by an unknown person who was
signalled to stop for checking.Sensing danger driver of the container managed
to fled away while leaving behind the vehicle abandoned.On through checking 12
bovines were found loaded on it illegally.Thereafter all the 12 bovines(12 oxen) were rescued and one
vehicle was seized as well.On this instant case vide FIR No. 38/2022 U/S
188/IPC, 11 PCA act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur while further
investigation is underway.Thus overall 21 bovines were rescued, 01 person
arrested and 03 vehicles were seized.
District Police Kathua seek support from people to share information about bovine smuggling on 100 with police for the cause. Your identity will be kept confidential.
