Poppy cultivation destroyed in Baramulla |
Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police arrested a drug peddler in Pulwama and recovered contraband substance from his possession. Besides, Police destroys poppy cultivation in Baramulla.
In Pulwama , officers from Police Post Newa during patrolling arrested a drug peddler who was roaming in a suspicious condition at Chakpora Newa. During his personal search, 08 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Saleem Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Sidiq resident of Gusoo Pulwama. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 115/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and further investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile in Baramulla, Police along with revenue officials including Tehsildar Pattan destroyed poppy cultivation in 6 Kanals of land at Wanigam Kreeri. A case under relevant sections of law stands registered in police station in this regard.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
