Delhi records max temp of 40.6 deg C, min of 29 deg C

 


NEW DELHI: Delhi on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The minimum temperature settled at 29 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average, it said.

The relative humidity oscillated between 68 per cent and 49 per cent, the IMD said.

According to the data released by the weather station, the observatories at Ridge, Ayanagar, Najafgarh, Pitampura, Palam, and Lodhi Road recorded maximum temperatures of 40.9 degrees Celsius, 40.2 degrees Celsius, 42.4 degrees Celsius, 42.4 degrees Celsius, 41.6 degrees Celsius and 39.3 degrees Celsius respectively.

The IMD predicted that the national capital will witness partly clouded sky with possibility of development of thunder lightning on June 27, while the maximum temperature will settle at 40 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will dip to 29 degree Celsius.

 “From June 28-30, Delhi will witness generally clouded sky with light Rain or Drizzle with the maximum temperature touching up to 39-40 degree Celsius and the minimum temprature will touch 26 degree Celsius,” said the weatherman.

The air quality of the capital was recorded at 166 at 6 pm which falls under the "moderate" category.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe". (Agencies)
