Srinagar 01: The under-14 Cosco Cricket Tournament was kick-started in Panchayat Halqas Amnoo in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Monday.
An official told the news agency CNS that the cricket tournament was started at the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat for the youth of the district.
On the occasion, ACD Kulgam and ACP Kulgam, who were present besides other officials, graced the event with their presence and jointly inaugurated the tournament.
"The under 14 Cosco Cricket tournament was started in Panchayat Halqa Amnoo to channelize the energy of youth towards the sports and help them in realising the dreams of reaching the pinnacle," he said.
The tournament saw the participation of local youth and the event was taken up by a notch owing to the enthusiasm of the people who appreciated the efforts of the local administration for conducting the game.
"The tournament has been conducted so that a hidden talent among our youth could be brought forth and they could use it tomorrow for career options besides helping the nation to move towards growth in all spheres," said the official.
