U-23 Men's CK Nayudu Trophy: Vanshaj takes fifer; J&K in sight of 1st innings lead

 



JAMMU: Spinning web around the rival batters, promising left-arm spinner Vanshaj Sharma captured 5 wickets to help Jammu and Kashmir bundle out Pondicherry for a paltry total of 146 runs in the ongoing U-23 Men's CK Nayudu Trophy at Jammu University Grounds, here.

J&K, in reply, were in sight of a vital first innings lead at 90/3 in 33 overs at stumps on day-2 today.

Yawer Hassan (21) and Kanhaiya Wadhawan (21) were at the crease when bad light stopped play after a delayed start due to inclement weather conditions today.

The batters who were dismissed included Qazi Junaid Masood (27), Arya Thakur (12) and Kawal Preet Singh (03).

Earlier, J&K plotted Pondicherry collapse as almost all the bowlers hit right areas and bowled with a disciplined line and length.

Pondicherry scored 146 runs in 61 overs. Pravin top scored with 42 runs, studded with 3 fours and equal number of sixes, while Kamaleeshwaran contributed 31 runs to the total.

For J&K, Vanshaj Sharma took 5 important wickets by conceding 33 runs in 21 overs, while another left-arm spinner Vishal Kumar and medium pacer, Archit Mahajan bagged 2 wickets each. Kawal Preet Singh claimed one wicket.
