NEW DELHI: The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on Friday announced its ‘Summer Action Plan 2022’ which targeted the production of about 998 million gallons per day (MGD) of potable water to fulfill the peak demand during the summers, in the national capital. According to a senior DJB official, the water demand in the Delhi reaches to its peak during the summers. To avoid any inconvenience, the production of about 998 MGD of potable water is targeted to be achieved during the summer this year by optimizing all the resources.
“The additional 471 tubewells will be installed shortly at several locations in city and a total of about 5263 tube-wells will be in operation. Upgradation of Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) and associated pumping installations have been taken up through measures like replacement of old pumps and motors, old panels and other accessories for their optimum performance,” a senior official said.
“Continuous monitoring will be carried out in close coordination with Haryana to prevent shut down of the water treatment plants on account of high level of Ammonia in the raw water.
Stock position of consumables such as disinfectants, coagulants, spares for pumps & motors for all the plants and pumping stations has been reviewed. Adequate availability of stocks of these critical items will be ensured for quality and efficient supply of water during the upcoming summer season,” he said. (Agencies)
