Leh: The State Bank of India, Rural Self Employment Training
Institute, Leh in collaboration with Horticulture Department, Leh organised a
one-day long farmer training cum awareness camp at Chuchot Gongma, Leh.
In his address, Director Horticulture, Ladakh, Mohammad Yousuf Dar said
that apricot production is abundant in Ladakh and explained the importance of
apricot production. He also informed about several centrally sponsored schemes,
such as the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, for holistic growth
of the horticulture sector covering fruits, vegetables, root and tuber crops.
He stressed farmers to adopt apricot, apple and vegetable cultivation
to enhance their economy.
Horticulture Development Officer, Leh, Kunzang Wangmo said that after
Ladakh became a Union Territory, beneficiaries are getting more benefits
through different schemes to uplift their source of income. She also stressed
beneficiaries to take full benefit of loans and subsidies provided by the bank
and Horticulture Department.
During the event Sarpanch, Chuchot Gonmga, Nissar Hussain expressed his
gratitude to the RSETI, Leh and Horticulture Department Leh for conducting such
an awareness camp.
In the end, the participants were shown the various methods and
techniques of budding.
Earlier, coordinator, RSETI, Leh Sonam Chozang presented the welcome
speech and coordinated the event.
