J&K Climber Shivani leaves for Asia Cup

JAMMU: Shivani Charak of J&K along with seven sport climbers, including four female climbers of India, left today for Hong Kong to represent the country in the Asian Cup in Bouldering competition scheduled to be held in Hong Kong from September nine.

Other climbers selected for participation in this specialized international event are Bharat Pereira and Lokesh Chandra from Karnataka; Aman Verma and Anisha Verma from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation, Jamshedpur; Saniya Farooque Shaikh from Maharashtra; C. Maibam from Manipur and Ritika Rawat from Delhi.
Bibhas Roy from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation is accompanying the team as coach. The team has been sponsored by Indian Mountaineering Foundation
(IMF), New Delhi, the apex body for adventure sports in the country.
It may be mentioned here that participation of Shivani in the Asian Cup in Bouldering shall provide her a big exposure of competing on International standard boulders and good performance in this competition shall further facilitate Shivani’s selection for the forthcoming international sport climbing competitions.
Meanwhile, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, president and Ram Khajuria, senior vice president wished success to Shivani.
