POONCH, Sept 01: Organised by the Indian Army, three-day volleyball tournament got underway today close to the Line of Control at Gulpur Halipat ground, here.
The event attracted participation and spectators from the neighbouring villages thus bringing people together on a common platform.
In total, 16 teams are taking part in this event on league basis. In the opening match, Gulpur C defeated Saheed Aurangzeb Club.
The event is aimed at generating sportsmanship and to provide an opportunity to the youth of the border district to display their skills.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Dr A. Aneesh, CMO Poonch in the presence of Nirdosh Sharma, Manager Sports Stadium Poonch.
Meanwhile, organising the sports event is widely appreciated by the local population.
