12th Police Martyr's Memorial North Zone T-20 Cricket championship concluded

 



KATHUA: The 12th Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone T-20 Cricket championship concluded at Sports Stadium Kathua here today.  R R Swain- IPS, Director General of Police J&K was the chief guest of the event.

The DGP J&K complimented the Kathua Police, Shaheed Welfare Committee and Sponsors Executive President CTM Kathua, President Industrial Association Kathua & Associates, General Secretary  President  Industrial Association Kathua and Associates, Partner Satyam Cement,Satyam Cement & TMT Saria,President Brick Kiln Association Kathua, MD TK Paper Mills Kathua, Bazrang Goods Carrier, Chairman MC Lakhanpur,M/S Gateway Pvt. Ltd. Hatli Morh, Owner Black Pepper Restaurant Kathua, Raj Shutter Chadwal, JBB Polymer Logate, Aegios Polyfilms Logate,HFCL Technologies Logate,Jammu Pigment Logate,Man Industries Logate,J&K Industrial Park Logate,Sigma Soft Gel Ghati, JK Estate & Developer Ghati,Ganpati Cement Kathua, Chenab Agro Industry Kathua, Kohinoor Industry Kathua,Excel Net Finance & IT Kathua, Goyal Enclaves, Technoplast Packaging PVt. Ltd. etc  for their efforts in organizing the T-20 Cricket Championship. He also appreciated the people of Kathua for their support to this championship. He later distributed trophies, medals and prizes among the winner and runner-up teams and other Management Committee Members. He along with other police officers & dignitaries also paid floral tribute to the brave martyrs  and personally interacted with the martyr's families and distributed gifts among them. He thanked the Shaheed Welfare Committee, all sponsors and Organizers for their outstanding contribution.

SSP Kathua  Shivdeep Singh Jamwal- JKPS welcomed the Chief Guest  R R Swain- IPS DGP J&K  and  “Guest of Honour”   Anand Jain- IPS ADGP Jammu Zone, Jammu as well as  other senior police officials, Sponsors etc and gave a brief of the tournament and other sport initiatives which were taken by the District  Police Kathua  during the Year 2023-24. Besides senior Police Officers including ADGP Jammu Zone Sh. Anand Jain IPS, DIG JSK Range  Shakti Kumar Pathak-IPS and officers/officials of civil administration including Deputy Commissioner Kathua  Sh. Rakesh Minhas-IAS, as well as a large gathering witnessed the final match and the closing ceremony.

In total, Sixteen teams participated in the championship. Today's Final match was played between Vicky Akash 11 Pathankot Team vs Verma Sports Club Sahnewal While Batting first Vicky Akash 11 Pathankot team scored  162 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 07 wickets in which Digvijay scored 67 runs in 38 balls with 05 boundaries along with 05 sixers and Shubham scored 23 runs in 24 balls with 02 boundaries and gave a toughest total of 162 runs to opposition team. While chasing the target of 163 runs  Verma Sports Club Sahnewal team easily chased down the said target  in just 19 overs for the loss of 02 wickets and won this final match by 08 wickets in which Dhruv  was declared the "Man of the Match"  who scored 96 runs off 60 balls with 13 boundaries along with 02 sixers.He was awarded with cash prize of Rs.25,000/- along with trophy. The title of "Player of Tournament"  was won by Ankit Narwal (SPJ Gurgaon) and was awarded "Maruti Car Alto 800".Harsh(Vicky Akash 11 Pathankot) was declared the Best Bowler who took 15 wickets and remained the most economical bowler and Navneet Singh (Vicky 11 Pathankot team) was declared the Best Batsman who scored 276 runs in the tournament,  both were awarded "Motor Bikes"  for their splendid performance. The Winning Team, Verma Sports Club Sahnewal  team lifted the championship trophy and awarded a cash prize of rupees 3.50 lakh  whereas Runner up team Vicky Akash 11 Pathankot team was given cash prize of rupees 2.50 lakh alongwith medals were distributed  among winner and runner up team players.
