Shaheed PSI Arshid Ashraf Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament concludes in Handwara

January: A T-20 Cricket tournament organised by Police in memory of Shaheed PSI Arshid Ashraf in Ganderbal concludes today at Bakiakher Sports Ground Handwara. Total 16 teams participated in the tournament and final match was played between Rajwar-11 and Galoora Sports club which was won by Galoora Sports Club.

SSP Handwara Shri Dawood Ayoub-JKPS accompanied by DySP DAR DPL Handwara, SDPO Handwara, DySP Kralgund, All SHOs, IC PPs and DDC Rajwar Mir Sulaiman along with the family of fallen hero Shaheed PSI Arshid Ashraf distributed cash prizes/ trophies to the Winner and Runner up teams.

After the culmination of the presentation ceremony, while interacting with the participants, SSP Handwara expressed immense happiness with the sports activities being conducted in the Police district from time to time. He promised that many more such tournaments will be organised in future also.

The main motive of organising programmes in memory of police martyrs serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it pays tribute to the valour and sacrifice of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty, highlighting their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the nation. Secondly, such events act as a powerful means to commemorate the legacy of these heroes, ensuring that their sacrifices are not forgotten. By linking these tournaments to the names of the fallen officers, not only honours their memory but also brings the community together to collectively express gratitude for their service. These events, beyond being sporting competitions, become a platform to instil a sense of pride and remembrance in the community. They reinforce the idea that the sacrifices made by police martyrs are not in vain and that their dedication to duty continues to inspire and unite people.
