JAMMU: Sumit Grover clinched men’s title while women’s trophy went to Alankrita Sharma in open category of the IDPS Chess fiesta which was organized jointly by IDPS and All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA) at IDPS campus, here.
Akash Bhatia and Ravi Sharma remained second and third in men group while Ahana Gupta and Sonali Manhas secured second and third spot in women category respectively.
In Under-16 Boys group, Lakshya Choudhary clinched the title while Anubhav Dubey and Aarush Sharma remained second and third respectively. Similarly, in under-16 girls, Ashwiina Raina emerged title winner and Muskan Razak was at second place. Third place went to Vibhuti.
Other Results: Under-13 Boys: Anuragh Singh, Ist; Sahil Mahajan, 2nd and Samyak Jain, third. Under-13 Girls: Kanika Rana, Ist; Palak Mahajan, 2nd and Mehreen, 3rd. Under-10 Boys: Paras Sharma, Ist; Athrav Aethmea, 2nd and Nidhir Nagar, 3rd. Under-10 Girls: Aaradhya Kotwal, Ist; Aarvi Andotra, 2nd and Reha Chawan, 3rd.
Besides title trophies, those first three position holders presented with cash prizes worth Rs 75,000 by the chief guest, Atul Kumar Gupta, joint secretary of All India Chess Federation (AICF).
Earlier, the event was declared open by former Legislator, Devinder Singh Rana, who was chief guest. He interacted with 180 participants from different educational institutions and districts along with MD IDPS, Suminder Singh; Principal, Randeep Wazir; Manager, Madhu Abrol; president AJKCA, Baldev Raj; Ravi Sharma; Chief Arbiter, Anil Kotwal and technical supporter, Arvindu Sharma, Bindu Pathania and senior player, S P Sharma.
