MUMBAI: Teamwork guided clinical Jammu and Kashmir to 6-wicket victory over Sikkim in the ongoing Women's U-23 One-Day Trophy at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai today.
Earlier, batting first, Sikkim bundled out for a paltry total of 75 runs as all the bowlers from J&K bowled with disciplined line and length. Leeza top scored with 24 runs off 52 balls studded with 3 boundaries, while Samayita contributed 10 runs to the total.
For J&K, Arveen Riyaz took 3 wickets by conceding 10 runs in 5.3 overs, while Mariya Noorain, skipper Ananaya Sharma and Kajal Bhagat bagged 2 wickets each.
In reply, J&K rode on magnificent batting display by Bawandeep Kaur and chased the target in 20 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Bawandeep scored brilliant unbeaten 48 runs off 60 balls, studded with 11 boundaries. She hit the ball with fluidity, grace and brilliance. Shambhavi Rajput and Aditi Aryan contributed 9 and 7 runs to the total respectively.
For Sikkim, Leeza, Samita, Pranita and Lepcha claimed one wicket each.
The team is being accompanied by Irshad Hassan as the Manager, Meenu Singh Slathia as Head Coach, Anuradha Sharma as Co-Manager, Summayah Jan as Bowling Coach, Sunny Kumar as Trainer, Mujtaba Wani as Video Analyst and Bisma Gulzar as Physiotherapist.
