Jammu: An awareness
camp was today organized here by the Extension & Publicity wing of Animal
Husbandry Department for sensitizing and enrollment of farmers, especially ST
population, under Kissan Credit Card (KCC) scheme.
The scheme Kissan Credit Card
(KCC) extends the credit facilities to farmers to help them to meet their
working capital requirements for activities related to Animal Husbandry. The
farmers were told that any dairy farmer, poultry farmer either individual or
joint borrower, Self Help Groups can apply under this scheme at nearest
veterinary Hospitals/ sub-centers of their area.
The farmers were informed that
the KCC scheme provides hassle free loan facility of Rs. 1.60 lakh without any
mortgage to farmers at subsidized rate of interest. This will help to boost the
animal husbandry business of farmers along with providing employment
opportunities, as well.

Jammu, Vivek Sharma spoke in detail about the impact of the scheme on the
farming community. She mentioned about the special drive launched by the
government for providing of all dairy/Poultry farmers, Milk co-operatives and milk producers with
Kissan credit Cards (KCC’s) so that the benefits should percolate down the
level to boost the rural economy.
The farmers demonstrated
enthusiasm about the scheme and it was decided on spot that a team will visit
the pockets with the concentration of ST population & extend help to them
in filing of forms so that they are not deprived of the benefits of this
scheme.

officials from Extension & Publicity wing, SA Training School, Jammu
participated in the camp.
